Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists has the most technologically advanced diagnostic equipment and a group of dedicated veterinary specialists in acupuncture, critical care, dermatology, imaging, internal medicine, and oncology. Currently, we have an opening in the internal medicine and critical care department working in our intensive care unit. GCVS is a 24 hour patient care facility and has a full time position available on our 2pm-12am or 11pm-9am shift. Candidates must be able to work weekends and holidays. We are looking for veterinary technicians with previous experience in patient monitoring, administering medications, induction and maintenance of anesthesia, and emergency care. The candidate must have a passion for veterinary medicine, a strong initiative to learn, and strive to perform at their highest level possible. Requirements: Higher education and/or RVT are preferred, but additional experience can substitute. Experience in an emergency clinic or multiple doctor, fast paced clinic preferred. We are looking for someone who is self motivated and can work well independently and in a team environment. Applicant must be able to multi task, prioritize, and handle high stress situations. Minimal skills required are calculating drug dosages, administering medication (PO, SQ, IM, IV, etc.), placing peripheral catheters, intubating patients, and obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiration rate, and blood pressure.
